Is there seriously no real Qwest employees w/ exp in dsl on this forum.
Hell im thinkin about buyin a whole new setup if worst comes to worst. I've lost too much sleep on this creating a server thing.
I keep reading up on Qwest and im not sure but things are mentioned about your ip always changing and never constant... Could this be the problem? Is it a static ip I need to buy or is it something completely different. There is a small tutorial for adding a static ip but last I checked that cost $5-15 a month since the option is there am I covered or will those b**tards charge me...??? The tutorial just says add one so do I just make one up?

I have not idea about your ISP. I'm not even in your country.

However, a different IP, should not be a great problem for people listing the server every time from the master servers. It would be a problem if someone knows an IP in advance, and has it on favorites for example. Masters get a "heartbeat" every some minutes of the ip and port of the server anyway.

On dynamic IP services, the IP should change every time you make a new connection to the ISP or after many connections to it, not in the middle of a connection.

Can you explain how you get that error? From a computer somewhere else on the internet or with another method? Do you get your server correctly when you list it on the servers list? Do others get it correctly when they list it and especially with the correct port?

Does the game server work when you connect to it from your computer?

Are you on a LAN? (a home network of some computers or sth like it) Do computers on it connect to the game server?

<edit> What IP do people from the internet use to connect to the server? Have you tried to give them the internet IP your ISP has supplied at that moment + port to give it a try? </edit>

Ya im on a lan of 3 comps im connected to the 2nd port in the hub. The hub is then connected to the modem.
Illogical u can see my ip can't u or doess Oswald hold that priveledge?
Isn't it also true you run master.urbanterror.net?
Is there ne way you could make the server. Give me the admin pass and I could take it from there?
Man this is frustrating...

ah alright, your router and ISP has nothing to do with it untill your q3 server gets up and running.

I don't know why it doesn't bind to an IP, I'm sure someone else here knows.

It doesn't seem difficult to fix.

a firewall on the pc running the server maybe?

All of the WSAEADDRNOTAVAIL are on your local system. Are you trying to force the Q3 server on your system to use the public IP of the DSL router? If so, don't. I'm presuming you are due to the **.**.***.** IP censoring you did, when if it was configured to use your internal IP (which is right in this situation) those would have been ***.***.*.* :) Quake's trying to bind to an IP address which isn't on the system, and therefore will throw those errors.

There is no firewall I used to run Zone Alarm but I haven't gotten around to installing it. So Trolan ur saying dont use my external ip for my net use my internal one? I will try but last time I did that it made a local server I want one thats online and will be posted on master.urbanterror.net. I will report back with an edit of how things went....

I wouldn't hardcode any IP on your Q3 server config/startup/etc. Only thing you should need there are the same options which any normal public, published server requires to run. The master server only cares about the source IP/port the packet came from, and the NAT router you're using would end up being the item which rewrites the packets from your internal LAN IP address to the external, public IP address of the router.

Dont set the net_ip thing. Q3 will find it itself. I you do wanna set it, set it to local. If the master-servers are entered correctly, it will show with external IP on the list. :)

I tried with my internal and it didnt work.
Are you saying don't setup the shortcut to make the server but create a server w/ dedication to net?

You can use the shortcut. But try setting net_ip to your local IP. What error does it give then?

Or something else. Also, it can take a while before the server shows in the list and make sure the master servers are entered correctly.

master.urbanterror.net must be one of those.

by the way: what is Qwest? Is that an ISP? You think you need an ISP-employee to get this to work :?:
